Rumors have been swirling that the RTX 4090 will arrive in October, but there's now more information that the RTX 4080 and RTX 4070 won't launch until 2023.
According to PC Gamers , new rumors have recently emerged that Nvidia may not release the RTX 4080 this year, and that only the top-end RTX 4090 GPU will be launched.
Before this news appeared, many gamers were expecting the top 3 names of the Ada Lovelace GPU generation, RTX 4090, RTX 4080 and RTX 4070, to be launched on the market to satisfy the desire to conquer the graphics of high-end games.
But a variety of factors have led to speculation that Nvidia may be changing this plan and is delaying the launch of its next generation of graphics cards, in order to allow current-generation graphics cards to sell through remaining inventory.
However, according to PC Gamers' analysis from some sources, Nvidia may push the launch back to the end of the year, but it will be a surprise because there will only be the appearance of RTX 4090 and not a series of new products.
Nvidia's highly anticipated RTX 4080 may not launch in 2022.
Possible causes of Nvidia's delay
First, with the crypto crash and the global supply chain crisis slowly easing, there are more RTX 30-series and AMD Radeon RX 6000-series graphics cards on the market. That’s only counting the new cards that are still on retail shelves, not the old “tank” cards that are being dumped by crypto miners trying to recoup their losses.
Next, according to the YouTube channel Moore's Law is Dead, citing sources from some of Nvidia's graphics card partners who are "frustrated" with the backlog of graphics cards. They have reportedly refused to continue buying current-generation GeForce chips until they can clear their current inventory, after which they will consider whether they are willing to risk distributing the next-generation Lovelace GPUs.
In the same Moore's Law is Dead video, multiple sources cited 'confirmed' that Nvidia's RTX 4090 24GB 450W card will launch in October.
Finally, a tweet from tweaker Greymon55 confirms the same, with the announcement of the AD102 GPU powering the RTX 4090 set for September for an October launch. It also says that the AD103, AD104, and AD106 GPUs—which power RTX 4080 cards and below—won't launch until 2023. Ultimately, all cards below the AD102 are due to launch next year, unless Nvidia changes plans midway through.

From the above information, it can be seen that the RTX 4080 and RTX 4070 lines will arrive a little later than expected.
While it's unlikely that Nvidia will launch a completely new GPU generation with just one graphics card, the company may still want to prioritize helping its graphics card manufacturing partners shift their supply before launching a new series of cards.
Additionally, Nvidia's launch schedule may also depend on AMD's launch plans with the Navi 33 using a monolithic chipset and the Navi 31 based on a high-end chiplet this year.
